Obtaining help

The support we can offer is described here.

If you are homeless or in a similar vulnerable situation, to use our Day Centre all you need to do is to turn up there between 10 am and 2 pm on a weekday and introduce yourself to the staff. The Day Centre is at St Mark's Hall, Cottage Place, Chelmsford. We may ask you to provide some details for record purposes.

If you are sleeping rough on Chelmsford's streets you may qualify for a simple free meal and drink in the evening. The Day Centre staff will be pleased to give you further details.

If you need emergency accommodation, go to the Day Centre between 10 am and 2 pm on any weekday or to the Night Shelter between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm any evening. You will then be asked to complete a referral form applying for a place in the Night Shelter. Alternatively, you can telephone the Night Shelter between 8 am and 7 pm. If the office is unmanned when you telephone, leave your name, telephone number and short message on the answering machine and we will phone you back.

Because of the demand for emergency accommodation we cannot guarantee that space will be available but we will take details in case a suitable bed becomes vacant.

The addresses and telephone numbers of the Day Centre and the Night Shelter are listed on our contact page and their locations are shown on this map.
