July - August 2010
Our lease of St Mark's Hall expires in about a year's time, when the current owners hope to sell it. We don't know what will happen to the Day Centre after that, whether we will be able to stay in St Mark's Hall for a while under its new ownership, be able to find an alternative building in which to continue the Day Centre operations as they are now, have to restrict the Day Centre activities or have to close them altogether. Please ask God to show us the way forward He wishes us to take.
We also ask you to pray for:
- the family and friends of a former resident who died of cancer at the end of June and who will be sorely missed by all who knew him, that they may receive the support they need during the sorrow and remember him with affection;
- a former resident who was recently diagnosed with liver cancer, that he may be without pain;
- the son of one of our volunteers, who was recently released from hospital after thirteen months but still does not have the use of his legs, that he may recover sufficiently to live independently;
- a young woman who is currently homeless and who is expecting a baby in early January, that she may soon find somewhere suitable to live and that she will receive the support and encouragement she needs to make sure that both she and the baby remain healthy;
- a resident who recently suffered a broken jaw, that it may heal well and that he may be able to cope with any discomfort he may suffer in the meantime;
- all trustees, staff and volunteers going on holiday this summer, that they may enjoy their times away and return refreshed; and
- those homeless people for whom a holiday is an impossible dream, that they may nevertheless be able to relax in good company and good surroundings this summer.
Pray with us
Prayers are offered at the Day Centre every Monday morning at about 10.30 am and at the Night Shelter most Tuesday evenings shortly after 9 pm. Please remember us if you pray at these times. You are also very welcome to join us if you are ever in the vicinity of the Day Centre or the Night Shelter at the appropriate time.
