Volunteers needed at Day Centre in evenings
It is getting very difficult for us to cope with the number of rough sleepers and other vulnerable people seeking help from the Night Shelter each evening. We are therefore moving our evening support services for them from the Night Shelter to the Day Centre, where we have facilities to serve meals and drinks to them inside the building.
We aim to open the Day Centre for meals and tea and coffee between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm each weekday evening. However, we can't do this without volunteers to help. Could you assist on a rota basis? If so we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact our Volunteer Office at the Day Centre (01245 284878). Alternatively:
- existing volunteers can send us a message using our email form; and
- potential volunteers can complete and submit our online volunteering application form.
... and possibly in mornings as well
We are also thinking of moving the serving of light breakfasts to rough sleepers from the Night Shelter to the Day Centre. This will involve opening the Day Centre at either 9.15 am or 9.30 am instead of 10 am. Let us know if you can help us to cover the extra 30 or 45 minutes.
